Finding Paradise-Fiji

The South Pacific Islands of Tahiti, Cook Islands and Fiji are so remote, that if you live outside of Australia and New Zealand, you may have trouble to place them accurately on the map, besides pointing vaguely towards the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, between Australia and USA.

The islands are a true paradise lost — far and unreachable. We keep dreaming, that maybe one day it will be our next honeymoon destination, or a trip of a lifetime after a lottery win.

But what if we don’t have to wait for our honeymoons or lottery wins? With a little bit of planning and saving we can make it an adventure of a lifetime. Would you go? A true adventurer looking for treasure in one of a few remaining unspoiled places on Earth.

GETTING THERE

Wherever you are in the world, the three main places you can get to French Polynesia, Cook Islands and Fiji from are Los Angeles (US), Auckland (NZ) or Sydney (AU).

You can find flights from Japan, Santiago (Chile), Seoul, Hawaii, or other cities, but these are less frequent, much longer and often indirect. So, the best way to access these islands will be flying from the three main airports mentioned earlier.

Depending on your travel plans, you can choose one of the archipelagos, or visit all three, but that would require more planning and preparations. It is also worth mentioning other, lesser known Pacific Islands, such as Samoa, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Tonga; but that is perhaps a topic…
